Bells Island, NC

As we continue to “Shelter in Place,” our place has changed. We needed to move but finding an open RV park during this lockdown was impossible. Our son Dan and wife Erika and Erika’s parents offered us to stay at their beach house on Bells Island, NC. What a wonderful gesture! We accepted their hospitality.

Bells Island: Just before dawn on a September day in 1718, Blackbeard the pirate and a few of his men with bad intentions rowed up to Currituck County farmer William Bell.

Bell survived a hand-to-hand fight with the pirate but lost his money and brandy. Nowadays, his family name lives on in the island named for him.

I usually go for a daily walk of five to six miles around the island. The Island is big enough that I can never do the same route every day. On one occasion, I took my camera along.

Crab Traps…Crabs are plentiful in this area.
Is she actually fishing…????…..Noooo….Ha Ha, I asked her to hold my rod while I take a picture…
