Traveling Back To Virginia To Hunker Down

Even the best-planned trips get disrupted by illness, accidents, and world events. Our scheduled return to Virginia was planned for mid-April but reality just hit the fan. A few days back, I got a call that my dad of 96 living in Virginia needed to be move from assisted living to a nursing home before the end of the month. On top of that, the President declared a national pandemic of the Coronavirus. Medical experts telling us that the virus is very easy to transmit and stated that we should practice social distancing and staying home. With all that reality, we decided that it would be better to get out of touristy Arizona and get back to Virginia ASAP. Virginia is where the majority of our family lives and also Denise’s health care network (not on Medicare yet). Driving the interstate was the fastest way back, it also was the route that people from all over the US commingling along the way. We are over 60 so we probably took more than normal precautions like; glove wearing, keeping our distance from people and washing our hands often. So once we got to Virginia we decided to hunker down for a couple of weeks and not visit anyone.

To lighten our minds during this trip, we had fun photographing it.
