It’s Getting Smoky

Chimney Rock State Park, North Carolina

It’s been a while since I gave an update. Our travel blog has been a good way to share and archive our travel experiences and we wanted to continue on. The covid pandemic has put us campsite bound for a few months. We have adjusted to covid life. With the thought of staying in one place for a while, we choose the Smoky Mountain area. It’s a high enough elevation to give us a cooler summer, plus all the outdoor things to do. We are currently in Franklin NC at the Great Outdoors RV Resort.

4 1/2 hour scenic ride along NANTAHALA River, known for it’s White Water Rafting.
Let’s gear up!
We alway end a good day at a local brewery.

We are now liberated with the vaccine, allowing us to do things. It’s such a great relief!

  1. Dave, I hope this email finds you and Denise well. First of all, Pam and I are very envious of your adventures! Hats off to the both of you, I hope in a few years we will be making long RV journeys as well.
I do have a quick question. Do you use a cellular booster for phone, data, etc? We are considering one as many of our state parks are challenging as best. I figure you have seen and tried a bit of many things. Would like to get your advice.
    Thank you Sir!

    1. Chris, Good to hear from you. Yes, you and Pam need to be on the road!
For our wifi connection, we use a Verizon MiFi with an unlimited data package. So far, we have been able to connect at most parks. There has only been a handful that we could not get a connection so we have not ventured into getting a cellular booster. I’ve talked to many people who had to get them because of who they are using as their carrier. So far, Verizon has met our needs throughout the US. All of our TV viewing is streamed and if we are in the boonies, we go to the public library and use their internet and download a bunch of Netflix stuff to the iPad and stream it to the TV.

      1. Thanks for the advice Dave. We do have Verizon as a carrier so that would work great.
Love your pictures and comments on areas you visit.
Can’t wait to get the opportunity to hit the road as well. We have started to do a few 2 week camping adventures to get the feeling of extended camping and we both are ready for more.
        Take care and be safe
