Las Vegas

Our normal morning routine is for me to get a cup of coffee and Denise a cup of tea.  As we were sitting there enjoying our drink, I asked Denise what should we do today.  She said let’s do Vegas and have a picnic lunch somewhere. We scanned the map and saw Red Rock Canyon, National Conservation Area by the Bureau of Land Management.  “We’ll stop there for lunch and then drive into Vegas“. That was the plan.

Red Rock Canyon was about an hours drive away from our RV.  We got there around 11am and enter the visitors center.  I showed my America the Beautiful Senior Pass and got a free pass into the park.  The pass entitled us to a 13 mile scenic drive through the park. Denise and I both agreed, “Let’s do it!”  It was such an awesome drive, it took us over 3 hours.

We did some hiking…..
I did some mountain climbing….I was showed up by a real climber on the left of the photo

The park has more than 2000 climbing routes, the park is one of the top five climbing  destinations in the US.  We found a nice place for lunch, we got our binoculars out, sat there and watch them.  “No way on earth would we ever do that, they are crazy!”

We had a great afternoon.

We arrived at Caesars Palace around 4pm.  We made it in time for a free animation showing of Atlantis. We toured around for another hour and we called it a day.

We are staying at:

Canyon Trail RV Park in Boulder City, Nevada, site 85.  It’s a good location for visiting Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam.  It has the best Wifi we have had on this trip so far.  The sites are tight.  We have 50amp electrical, water, sewer, cable TV and free wifi.  We paid $36/night with a Good Sam’s membership discount. We would stay here again if we were just visiting the area.
