Tombstone

We left western Texas from a low elevation at the Rio Grande and we climbed our way out of Texas and into the high desert of New Mexico.  It wasn’t until we passed the continental divide in New Mexico that we started to descend into the Arizona.

We are staying in Benson, Arizona.  This is an area that we wanted to explore.  A lot of old cowboy history in this area.  At one time, Tombstone was the biggest town in these parts.  It had over 100 saloons and just as many outlaws and gunslingers.  We just had to explore Tombstone……..Once we got there, we found out it is a tourist trap.  There is no history to be explored, there are tour companies trying to get your money and for them to tell their version of history which is different that the other tour company.

Birdcage Theater. History that you will have to read on your own….
Big Nose Kate’s Saloon. Most popular of the saloons. We had lunch there!
There is a gun fight bruin….
Our Campsite at SKP Saguaro Co-op…Great view of the mountains in the background.

We are staying at Escapee Co-Op SKP Saguaro.  We are a member of the Escapee and this is a member only RV park.  The RV site is owned by an Escapee member and leased out when they are not on site.  We leased a site for two nights at $20/night. We have 50amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV.  We would definitely come here again.
