Heading South to our new Winter Wonderland

On our first day out from our home in Lynchburg, the weather fell calm and warm.  We traveled the intended two hundred miles to Chesapeake Virginia to visit son Dan, Erika and grandson, Jace. Even though it was not Christmas Day, it was Christmas for us.

The next morning bright and early, even before the stars were gone, we were up, stowed and made ready to proceed down the road. For the next four days we headed south to Bonita Springs, Florida. For miles and miles, we saw lots of farmland and low swampy country.

We visited Savannah historical downtown. In the heart of the old district is St. John the Baptist Cathedral, all decorated for Christmas. It was a sight to be witnessed. Full of visitors, like us, we were respectful of this sacred place, snapped pictures, waited in line to see the nativity scene or just sat and prayed.

Ahh, the climate turned warm when we arrived in Lakeland, Florida.  It became obvious that we should spend some extra time here and enjoy the fine weather. We debated weather to spend the day driving around or visit a local county park. Alligators, water birds and hiking trails was enough to convince us to visit Circle B Bar Reserve. We spent the whole afternoon exploring and hiking.

Here is what the sign read….Denise was questioning should we still go hiking especially about the alligators might be in the area.

She had her hiking stick and planned to hit any alligator on the nose that got in our way.
This guy was far enough away that he was (we were) safe.
Then we met Big Daddy.
It is always nice to have company while hiking.

Say something, love to hear from you!
