Monterey-Pebble Beach-Carmel

The California El Nino rain season sure has been a nuisance lately. It hasn’t slowed us down though but it sure has taken away photo opportunities. This area just begs “take a picture” of everything you see. I’m having to use my Olympus Tough camera that is waterproof up to 50 feet underwater.  It’s a great point and shoot camera with excellent picture quality but the lens get all fussy with rain drops.

Monterey and our travels up to Watsonville is the final leg of our PCH.  We will leave the PCH through San Francisco and above for another trip. But for now the PCH has been a great experience.  I was talking to this older fellow from St Louis visiting the area also and he said it is the rocks along the coast that makes it such a spectacular sight.  He is exactly right!

On our last leg we visited Monterey Aquarium, traveled the 17 mile scenic drive through Pebble Beach and Carmel and drove up to Watsonville.

Again, I will let the pictures do the talking!

Monterey Aquarium. A viewing pool of sea otters on the ocean end of the aquarium. The aquarium is huge and it  is all about the marine life on the Pacific West Coast. About half of the complex is a research facility.

17 mile scenic drive-Pebble Beach-Poppy Hills Golf Course.  A very private and well known course because of it’s location right on the ocean.  We took a bathroom call at the clubhouse. Nobody paid any attention to us. I took a couple of pictures and we scurried out of there.

Casterville is between Monterey and Watsonville. It’s a small agricultural town. It is known for it’s artichokes. The rest of the drive to Watsonville is in-land and uneventful.

It was time to move south. The cold and rain was wearing on us plus we have been on the go for the pass couple of weeks.  We need some downtime from retirement.  We will be visiting family in southern California for the next few days.

Daniel, I got my safety cones placed. It’s a Walmart parking lot. What do you think?

Say something, love to hear from you!
